This session will cover the key updates from the past year in employment law that will impact your business heading into 2020.  Legislatures across the country and here in Minnesota have been busy enacting new laws.  Not to be outdone, administrative agencies have shifted their focus to adjust to a changing political climate.  From paid leave to new technical notice requirements this session will cover new development and trends HR professionals should be aware of moving into 2020.

 

In this interactive program, participants will learn about:

 

1. Compliance with new Minnesota legislation including municipal paid leave laws and both state and municipal level wage theft notice requirements

 

2. Emerging trends in legislation following the “me too” movement 

 

3. Recent trends in administrative agency filings

 

Speaker:

Jessica Bradley, Littler Mendelson

Jessica Bradley practices in all areas of employment law. She has experience representing employers in charges of discrimination and retaliation, whistleblower actions, FRSA claims, labor-management relations and class-action ADEA claims.

Jessica has experience handling and resolving a broad range of issues in state and federal courts, arbitration, and before state and federal agencies.   Before joining Littler, Jessica worked in the corporate legal department of a large private corporation with retail stores throughout the Midwest, where she managed litigation of general liability, intellectual property and employment law claims and assisted with employee benefit plan compliance

 

 

 


Alice Kirkland, Littler Mendelson

Alice D. Kirkland counsels management on labor and employment law. Her background includes working on both traditional labor matters and employment litigation, advising clients on day to day employment and labor issues, conducting internal policy reviews for employers, and conducting internal investigations into allegations of employee misconduct. She has experience representing both public and private employers throughout the United States.

During law school, Alice was an outside articles editor for the Law and Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice.
