Twin Cities SHRM Receives SHRM National’s highest award –
The Pinnacle Award!
Twin Cities SHRM was awarded SHRM National’s 2021 Pinnacle Award for our Twin Cities SHRM Cares Campaign. The Pinnacle Award is the most prestigious honor SHRM state councils and chapters can receive. Created in 1991, it recognizes innovative projects created and implemented by SHRM affiliates in the categories of Serving the Professional, Advancing the HR Profession and Enhancing the SHRM Community. Twin Cities SHRM was one of 12 human resource organizations—out of more than 600 —from across the country to win the award this important award in 2021.
“SHRM affiliates are leading the way in reinventing the world of work,” said SHRM President and CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP. “By pioneering educational programs, creating inclusive cultures, and increasing the workforce readiness of underserved and underemployed populations, each SHRM chapter and state council winner helped to lift up their community.”
To tell you more about the Twin Cities SHRM Cares Campaign, in 2020 the Twin Cities metro area was impacted like the rest of the world by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make the situation even worse, in May 2020, George Floyd’s murder took place in our very own Twin Cities community. Both situations put extreme pressure, uncertainty, stress, and demand on companies and their leadership teams; but even more specifically, the HR professionals on the front lines who were in charge of keeping their workforces safe. Twin Cities SHRM developed the Twin Cities SHRM Cares Campaign to help support our members, their company’s workforces, and our overall Twin Cities community through 2020. The Twin Cities SHRM Campaign offerings were created as demand for additional resources surfaced and furloughs and job losses were at record highs. We focused on providing our members the support, tools, and forums in which they could sustain and eventually prevail in helping their employees and companies survive. We are very proud of this award and our many volunteers who made the Twin Cities SHRM Cares Campaign come alive and as such an effective offering for our membership and the local Twin Cities HR community.

We had 655 registered attendees for our TCSHRM Cares Web Series. We had over 300 registered attendees for our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) in the Workplace focused TCSHRM Cares Web Series.
